The codes, which started rolling out last week, gave players a free Chromecast and Stadia Controller to play the game on their TV. Originally scheduled to end on December 17th, Google was offering a free Premiere Edition bundle with Stadia pre-orders and early orders of Cyberpunk 2077. The Cyberpunk promotion ended for Stadia users in Canada on December 10th. Unfortunately, though, that promotion is ending a few days early.Ĭonfirmed on the Stadia subreddit tonight, Google has stopped this promotion as of December 13th in all regions. Stadia is one of the best places to play the massive new game Cyberpunk 2077 thanks to performance, but also because you can essentially get a free console with the game thanks to a free Premiere Edition bundle.

Still, it's a big plus to a struggling service. However, without the inertia of more subscribers, I'm not sure how practically useful it will prove. It certainly addresses the broad complaint from users about the high cost of using the service (since it requires a strong internet connection, a subscription, and purchase of the games themselves). This feature would be absolutely broken on networks with as many users as the PSN, Xbox Live, or Steam. In reality, people's groups probably won't all be the same six friends, so it gets a lot messier, but it's still a very cool feature. The group now owns 7 games, not just one, but you must take turns playing them. Thus, in theory, if you can find six other Stadia subscribers to be in a single "family", then each of you may agree to buy a different game. So if one person in a 7-person group owns Cyberpunk 2077, any one of the other six can play it, but only that person, and not the owner if two own it, any two can play it simultaneously if three own it, any three can play simultaneously, and so on. In-game currency cannot be shared.Ĭlick to expand.Pretty straightforward. Game add-ons can also be shared, but only in the form of expansions. One setting will automatically share all games in a library, but another will require the user to specifically enabling sharing on individual titles. Notably, Google also allows users to share their entire library or only specific titles. If all shared copies of a game are being played by members of your family group, the family sharing icon will appear instead of Play when you try to launch it. However, if two family members are sharing the same game in the same group, two people can still play at once. If someone in your family is playing Orcs Must Die 3, for example, the title will be blocked for everyone else, but other titles will still be available to play. When trying to access a game in Stadia Family Sharing, Google notes that only one person can be playing a specific title at any given time. However, if you share a game that you claimed with your Pro subscription and your subscription ends, the game will stop being shared with your family group. You don’t need to be an active Stadia Pro subscriber to share games or play shared games. That means one person with Stadia Pro can share games they’ve redeemed with other users who lack that subscription, all for one monthly fee. This includes not only games that were directly purchased, but also games that have been redeemed with a Pro subscription, as we previously discovered.

With Stadia Family Sharing, account holders can share any game in their library with up to six people.
